4,5 days to LagFest
Did I mention the fact that the hotel have little spa? No I did not
There is a small (indoor) swimming pool in the hotel, also a sauna and solarium. Hotelguests may use the facilities.
The weather gods are good to us. The forecast is very promising!
Can't wait to see you all. |

2 days till LagFest
This will be my last post for the upcoming Festival.
The weather forecast for Barchem: sunny and 23 °C on Thursday till 28 °C on Sunday. Little chance for rain, so take your sunscreen!
Olivier posted a preview of our roadbook on Lagondafest.com under Upcoming Meeting/Useful information and Roadbook, so take a sneak preview if you like.
You will receive a hard copy of the roadbook at the Festival so no need to print from the website.
We wish everybody safe travels and see you in NL on Thursday! |

It has to be said:
Our usual three convoy cars (13049, 13302 and 13380) met at the Hull Ferry about 3 pm on Wednesday 21st September. We boarded first and were soon in the bar. Disembarkation in Rotterdam on Thursday at about 8.00 am was easy and left us plenty of time to get to our rendezvous point in Brummen about 140 km distant.
Gallery Aaldering in Brummen (www.gallery-aaldering.com/en/) is really something special. Four floors of exotic and classic cars beautifully displayed. The group of thirteen Lagondas assembled here and we all enjoyed a relaxed lunch together. In the afternoon we made our way through the beautiful landscape of De Achterhoek to Doesburg where we visited a mustard museum (www.doesburgschemosterd.nl) and afterwards took the opportunity to have a welcome cold beer in a local bar before heading off to the hotel in Barchem (www.hotelbonaparte.nl), our base for the trip. In the evening we had a lovely dinner with local wines.
On Friday morning we drove on scenic roads to Haaksbergen where our destination was the rail Museum Buurtpoorweg (www.museumbuurtspoorweg.nl). After lunch here we went on to Enschede and a guided tour of the new large Grolsch brewery followed by a sampling session.
On Saturday we drove to historic Zutphen, had a guided tour, music, a boat ride, a horse drawn carriage and a picnic lunch! It was a brilliant day full of activity and the sun shone! In the evening we had our gala dinner in the hotel with live music. The traditional award giving was ably overseen by m/c Johan Balijon. Harry Kielstra and David Marks were awarded the (monster) Alvira Trophy for their services to the wedge Lagonda community; that unique, hand built masterpiece, the Lagonda Cabriolet the Lagonda of the Year plate; Johan ‘White Lightning’ for resurrecting his Tickford and Anita Kemp ‘Black Lightning’ for bringing her (and Chris’) fine example.
Participants came from six countries, even the USA, with or without their Lagondas, and we even had a superb Bristol 403 with us.
Huge thanks are due to Margie, Harry, Johan and their team for arranging such a marvellous event. The organisation, hospitality, scenery, weather and overall atmosphere were faultless.
A great meeting in a beautiful part of NL with wonderful people.
Let's have some more pictures!
