I believe the spring event will be held at Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire in May 2015 and the autumn meeting at Alnwick, Northumberland in Sept/October 2015. |

I am ashamed that even originating from that area, I don't know my Northumbrian castles. |

No need to be ashamed you may be right! I am going to have to have a look again too. Where are you from? I know Northumberland quite well having lived in Winlaton as a child. |

My profuse apologies Jonathan! You are right it is Alnwick. I should know better as I think I've been to all of the Northumberland castles at one time or another. The small statues on top of the towers should have been the first clue. Sorry!

Now I recall that the same landscape aspect was used in the opening titles of the first series of Blackadder. I think that's why I remembered it.
I was born in Newcastle General Hospital and lived in Newcastle upon Tyne until my teens when my parents moved to Heddon-on-the-Wall just to the west of Newcastle (where they still live).
I was taken by my parents to Bamburgh castle once when I was little. All I can remember was that it was by the sea, and it was cold. I visited Alnwick castle a few years ago with my family. They were running 'Harry Spotter' tours to point out the locations used during the filming of the first Harry Potter film.
For those not from the area, Alnwick is pronounced 'Annick' and not 'Olnwick'. |
