Although artificial, there is a certain simplicity and clarity about the AMOC S1 to 4 arrangement in marking particular differences although it does not mark the dashboard changes. At the moment I am inclined to keep it the way it is but will talk to a few others about it. |

Sorry for my probable mistake , but I was induced in my thought by page 1.1.1 from the parts catalogue, with the description of the block assembly as following :
carb cars/emission control cars/EFI cars with or without US spec + with CRT or VF dash.
So I wrongly deduced CRT and VF instruments induced EFI...
On some actual commercial leaflets from other marques, you can read : "(...) the manufacturer reserves the right to modify constantly the specifications with the vehicles described because of the continuous improvement of the products(...)
So where is the truth ? _________________ Welcome to Paradise ! (FRONT 242)

There is no confusion, everything is crystal clear!
Series 2 Wedge with Webers 13001 to 13463
Series 3 Wedge with FI 13464 to 13539
Series 4 Rounded 13540 to 13645
The dashboards overlap the series, and there are a few other anomalies/exceptions!

"S3 gets FI, CRT and Lagonda Badges on fuel panels and boot, a new model of alloy wheels"
Vincent my friend, I hate to do this but 13212 has badges on the fuel panels. I believe that another unique location for the badge is on the fuse box cover on the dash. I've got that one too. |

Thank you Roger. This is great! This is just the sort of of information we all want to read from your upcoming book!
However everything is crystal clear only if you know it.
As I told you when I did buy my car I thought it was a S3 because it had a CRT dash!
So I still like my idea of S2,5 and S3,5.... So could you give me the numbers of the first CRT and the first VF dashboard?

Dave,
The former owner of 13295 had also put badges on fuel panels. To check if it's original fit, you must find little holes in the panel to fix it. Otherwise, like on 13295, the badge can be fixed with glue or tape. Or the panels are coming from a later car... _________________ Welcome to Paradise ! (FRONT 242)

So, if I don't make a mistake, we find 3 types of S2 :
13001-13283 STEEL WHEELS
13284-13384 PEPPERPOT
13385-13463 ALLOY WHEELS + CRT
We have also 2 types of S2
13464-13504 CRT
13505-13539 VF
And S4
13540-13645
Could it be right so, Roger _________________ Welcome to Paradise ! (FRONT 242)

So let us dig in, in this topic.
Can we establish which car was the first to leave the factory with:
- pepperpot wheels
- CRT dash
- New aluminium wheels
- VF dash

#13505 was first production car with VF
Wheels? I don't know yet! |

13269 was the first with pepperpot wheels.
Pepperpot are standard outfit since 13284.
The cars fitted with Pepperpot wheels have (confirmed by parts catalogue) :
rear power windows and knobs on console.
new front spoiler
new seats
new bumpers ( like US cars before 13284 ).
new door locks inside.
There may be some exceptions or retrofits on earlier cars. _________________ Welcome to Paradise ! (FRONT 242)

Hello friends,
Like on MG cars,may I suggest ? :
S2A before 13284
S2B from 13284 to CRT
S2C CRT before FI
S3A FI + CRT
S3B FI +VF
S4 FI + VF + Rounded.
As I'm not the pope nor the king in this matter, what's your opinion about this ? _________________ Welcome to Paradise ! (FRONT 242)

Why not? If we should have 3 different S2 then it is indeed better to mark them with letters ( you could use Mark I, II and III ). If we have only two different S2 versions it looks better to me with 2,5.
The question is, was this intorduced at the same time: wheels, electric windows, new seats, new spoiler? If yes, then we should have three S2 versions, if not, we should have two versions.
May be we could dig in here and id we have an acceptable solution then we could move on and ask AMOC what they think?
