379 has a 'Long Range Snooper' radar detector. It is totally useless these days, but it was installed by the first owner and I kind of like its 'old technology' charm.

It would knock me down a point at concours, but should it stay or go?

I'm not a big fan of non original phones, stereos, speakers etc.

Actually I have never understood why anyone would want to damage the interior of an Aston Martin in order to mount some cheap electronics. It leaves nasty holes and looks bad.

To answer some points, the control unit is stuck in place without drilling any holes. The power was fed from the wire which went through under the ashtray. This is now removed.

The unit is totally useless because radar is now used by every-day cars for things like crash protection and adaptive cruise control. This means the unit would be triggered often, and a large proportion of speed measurement guns etc use alternative technologies anyway.

It has a sensor somewhere behind the grille or front valance and makes a noise when it detects a radar signal.

I am not thinking it will be any way useful to me, but it is old technology contemporary to the car, and the sort of thing which would be near impossible to obtain now.

It is as you say nicely contemporary and adds a certain something. I would remove it but you might like to test the judges first.

An old Motorola phone was mounted on 13295; and sound amplifiers too in the trunk.

I removed all these things of the past from my car.
The holes in the carpets are now invisible and I won 3 kgs on the balance...

I tread lightly with thing of origin and things of the era.

The point can go both ways. Some add to the era usage and must stay like the original radio. 13207 is now equipped with a modern radio in order to have blue tooth. This is now warranted in order to avoid costly tickets when you speak on the phone...

I kept the original radio. It now collect dust but could always be reinstalled at a later date.

To your radar detector point, It's got to go as it may have been used in the past but it is an add-on very few chose to install. Plus the brand was also an elected choice. In some country, like Canada they are illegal and hunted down by law enforcement.

And so this is my two cents about it!
