Can I just check, the beep when the button was pushed, was that standard from the start or is it an upgrade? _________________ Registrar of Cars, AMHT |

Standard on both 277 and 379. Don't know whether they were there from the start though although they are on the MY 1981 wiring diagram '120 - Touch Switch Warning Buzzers'.
The 'mounting bracket' for them is a piece of corrugated cardboard which they are glued to. This is then velcroed in position below the left binnacle (on my RHD cars).
I imagine they were fitted since there is no 'feel' to the touch switches.
They are the cream round things to the left. On 277 they are disconnected. This is either because they made a noise when not supposed to (wiring faults can cause this) or because the wires on them are so fine it is not possible to undo their bullet connectors without snapping the wires.
Tim - were they deleted when the touch switches were replaced with more conventional switches? |

Yes, the regular switches on my car don't beep. They are a bit cheap but have a funky red dot of light when the lights are on. That said, it reflects on the windscreen at night which is off putting
I guess the buzzer was added as a later update. I agree that I did read that the fact there was no feedback from the switches was a design fault.
If we bring this bamg upto date, the VH31o Vanquish buttons vibrate when u press them, like the vibration from a mobile phone
Roger, do your buttons beep? Yours is an early car _________________ Registrar of Cars, AMHT |

Maybe you could all check for beeps / buzzers:
Vincent 13034
Roger 13049
Harry 13059
059 should be a MY 1981 so should have them. 049 is late MY 1980 and 034 is May/June 1980.
Of course, buzzers could have been retrofitted to early cars. I bet plenty of them were back at works in their early years..
