It is part of the original Cadillac control assembly if you need to get one. My new old stock arrived from Texas today.

See http://lagondanet.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=427 for more details and part numbers.

Hello to all !!!

I also discovered the tubes were not in place on 13280, many thanks to Vincent and Roger for the two pictures, these are really helpful !

I do have a question concerning the 3 vaccum switch under the left binnacles (LHD car), in fact, I am talking about the same switch as Francis, I also found a T part with broken tubes...I can't find where the tubes are coming from and where they should go...It is such a mess...

Thanks in advance for your help !!!

Hello again,

I looked at my tubes and discovered the numbers were not corresponding from one unit to the other...so it's not easy as I thought to connect the loosens ones...

Here is what I've found:

Unit under the dash <--------> Unit near the windscreen

Tube 1 <--------------> Tube ?
Tube 2 <--------------> Tube 3
Tube 3 <--------------> Tube 5
Tube 4 <--------------> Tube ?
Tube 5 <--------------> Tube 6
Tube 6 <--------------> Tube 5 thru the center vaccum solenoid via a T
Tube 7 <--------------> Tube ?
Tube 8 <--------------> Tube ?
Tube 9 <--------------> Tube 1

On the unit near the windscreen, I have 4, 7 and 8 loosen
On the unit under the dash I have 1, 2 and 4 loosen
I have three loosen tubes coming from the heater unit and a T...

Could anyone help me as I can't find any diagram or picture ? I think it should be the same on RHD.

Here what I've found under the dash...

Many thanks in advance for your help !

Cadillac Devilles and Fleetwoods from 1977. I am in contact with someone from the Cadillac & LaSalle Club in the USA.

So with, once again, the help of Vincent I did a diagram of the vacuum system under the dashboard as it is mounted on 13169.
I've looked at the parts catalogue and it seems it is the same system to 1985 BUT the vacuum solenoids are different from 13172, I need to check on mine if it is the same but for sure, it should be good for LHD cars to 13171

The 4 vacuum solenoids from the driver's seat

The actuator near the A Post

The connection to the firewall

I had the matter, not the time...
Thank you very much Arnaud !
As 13169 is fitted with the rear airco, I suppose later cars are fitted so too... Very Happy

I hope so ! Very Happy But I'm not sure it changes anything if you have a rear unit or not because it is a simple blower behind the rear seat, no flap doors to manage.

Many thanks again Vincent ! I replaced the diagram because there was a mistake in the order of the vacuum solenoids.

Thanks Arnaud - this is really useful. I have not had any success getting the Cadillac diagrams yet. Crying or Very sad

It looks like the the firewall connections are 1 - vacuum in, 2 - heater water valve - is this correct?

You are right that the rear aircon does not affect this plumbing. It only makes use of the AC refrigerant plumbing and only cools when the front aircon is set to engage the pump (all settings except ECON I think).

Is 'heater unit' the central box? I assume there is a top and bottom vacuum connection - which is which?

In the case of the later cars, the vacuum solenoids are the square type like the ones next to the distributor. They have three ports and so I imagine this plumbing should be the only change to your diagram.

I didn't check on my car and, on 13169, all the tubes in the engine bay have burnt, I will try to have a look next week.

Exactly,it is displayed like on the diagram, the top connection is coming from "6" and so on

On 13280, I have 4 square types vacuum solenoids, I need to check the connections as soon as I have the time...But if they have three ports, I will have to face a new problem... Very Happy
