Has anybody any idea how to get a vacuum pump (Part Nr. 37.21592) for the cruise control of an EFI car?
AM says this part is no longer available.

Looks like the correct part number is 37.21594 - fitted to 13460 (approx) and then a revised linkage with new throttle actuator 08.25387 which has a plastic body.

What is the source of the fuel injection system on this car? This might give a clue. The distributors look like Marelli so I assume it is a Weber/Marelli system. However, my Virage which has this system has an electric cruise system mounted on the inner wing with a cable running to the throttle linkages..

EFI system seems to be a Marelli Weber one.

Looking at the picture in the parts catalogue, 37.21592 looks very much like the Keikert system used on most Jaguar models from 1986 to 1997, ie XJS, XJ6 XJ12 etc.

The earlier Econocruise system was identical to the contemporary Jaguar one.

What is wrong with your pump? - If it is the Keikert one, I have never known them fail........................

Thanks for all the support!!
ROOS says that the pump must be replaced, because it is brittle.
The part (as shown in section 6.3C) was manufactured by HELLA.
I have talked with the development department of HELLA and they aren´t able to deliver this part.
It was built specifically for AM and wasn´t freely available.
However there were 19 different manufacturers, which have used varities.

First of all, apologies:

The cruise systems on the later (1986 on) Jaguars is made by Hella - I was confusing it with the central locking, made by Keikert! - It clicked as soon as I read your last post.

Next:

I have also remembered that we are restoring 13501 - EFI car and I have gone to the stores and looked at the cruise control pump and this is made by Hella with the part number on the back 003 572.

Then, I found a pump from a Jaguar, it is also a Hella 003 572.

So, unless the pump on 13501 was previously replaced by a Jaguar unit, the AM and Jaguar pumps are the same. Certainly the fixing holes are identical.

I do find it odd that AM would commission a unique pump for just a few hundred cars, even at their level of doing things.

The Jaguar part number is DBC 3722 but unfortunately listed as NLA.

The last list price was GBP 174.00 plus VAT but I would have thought that any Jaguar breaker would have a few around.

There is a later part number listed for the 1995 - 1997 Jaguar saloons, LNA 1955 AA but this too is NLA, last list price is GBP 90.00 plus VAT

Still don't see what there is to go brittle on one though!

Suggest you get hold of a s/h Jaguar unit and see how it goes, got to be worth the gamble as it will only cost maybe GBP 40.00 and be quick to find.

David, thanks a lot for your efforts!!!
Tomorrow I will phone with HELLA to check your Jaguar solution.
Allow me a few remarks:
On the vacuum pump you will always find the number 003572.
..003572... is the HELLA number of the whole product family and for example ...003572.04 is the HELLA number of AM´s vacuum pump.
Of course HELLA has made this part for other manufacturers, but HELLA
says that it depends on diagram and assignment of the pump.
So far I have got another (very expansive) HELLA solution.

The german company KIEKERT (www.kiekert.com) is manufacturer
of the closing systems.

Best regards to Nottingham!
