2010 project
http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n35/Lagondanet/13542/
The Lagonda has a new engine control unit, which is located behind the
passenger dashboard. The old mechanical ignition has been replaced with an electronic one. 13542 also has new especially handcrafted sills right and left side, and parts of the inner wheel case. The lower parts of the front fender have been replaced. A small fan has been built under the display, which it is hoped will reduce some heat problems there. The upper dashboard has new dark gray leather. The work was carried out by Mr. Peter Müller, head of K&P Special Cars in Ottobrunn, Bayern, a specialist in english and american cars for 30 years.
Installation of a ZF 4 speed auto gearbox is planned next. |

This sill replacement seems to be a frequent rust problem on Lagondas. What can be done on cars that don't have this issue to prevent it from happening?

The first reason/problem comes from the particularly low floor of the Lag'.
Every car I have seen closely had hurts on the floor panels, and when these hurts open and crack, the floor and sills rust irremediabily...
The other weakness is the water evacuation on the rear. When the leadings are shuted ( leafs, dust...) the water arrives in the bottom frame, causing perforating rust...
The third reason comes from electrolytic reactions between the steel frame and the alloy panels, but that's not the primal problem. _________________ Welcome to Paradise ! (FRONT 242)
