La marque Lagonda fut fondée en Angleterre par un américain, Wilbur Gunn en 1906. D'abord spécialisée dans la construction de motocyclettes et de voitures à trois roues, la marque se fit connaître dans les années vingt par la production de belles voitures sportives de 2 à 3 litres de cylindrée. En 1935, la firme fut achetée par Alan Good dont l'ingénieur en chef, le célèbre W.O. Bentley mit au point la 4,5L, et produisit une douze cylindres qui rivalisait avec les meilleures productions britanniques, Rolls-Royce y compris. David Brown, le propriétaire d'Aston-Martin, acheta Lagonda en 1947 et construisit les berlines Rapide pendant quatre ans jusqu'en 1964, seulement 55 exemplaires furent produits. Sept berlines virent le jour en 1974 sur la base de l'Aston Martin DBS V8. La marque réapparut en 1976 dans le créneau des voitures de prestige avec le modèle présenté à la vente.
Cette berline basée sur l'ensemble mécanique de l'AMV8 est de dimensions exceptionnelles, permettant à quatre adultes de voyager rapidement dans des conditions de confort et de luxe rarement rencontrées. L'habitacle est tendu de cuir et de moquettes de grande qualité. Malgré son poids dû en partie à la qualité de l'insonorisation, c'est une berline aussi rapide que luxueuse.
Cette Aston Martin Lagonda série 4 est une 3e main, son propriétaire la possède depuis 2002. Le premier propriétaire, l'espagnol Ramon Gomez de la Serna la céda à un collectionneur suisse qui fit effectuer une grosse révision en 2000 alors qu'elle totalisait 20330 km. Elle vient de faire l'objet d'une révision importante à 27300 km avec changement de la crémaillère de direction. Il s'agit d'une des dernières des 636 exemplaires produits.

Lagonda was founded in England by an American, Wilbur Gunn, in 1906. Initially specialising in manufacture of motorcycles and three-wheeled cars, the marque became known during the 1920s for the production of beautiful 2 and 3-litre sports cars. In 1935, the company was bought by Alan Good, whose chief engineer, the famous W.O. Bentley, developed the 4.5-litre model, and produced a 12-cylinder model which rivaled Britain's best, including Rolls-Royce. David Brown, the owner of Aston Martin, bought Lagonda in 1947, and was responsible for producing the Rapide saloon between 1961 and 1964, with just 55 examples built. Seven Lagonda saloons, built on the base of the Aston Martin DBS V8, saw the light of day in 1974. The marque reappeared in 1976 with the prestige model presented in the sale.
This exceptionally spacious saloon, built using the entire mechanical components of the AMV8, can carry four adult passengers, at high speed and in great comfort and rarely seen luxury. The interior is fitted with the best quality leather and carpets. Despite its considerable weight, due partly to the level of sound-proofing, this saloon is as fast as it is luxurious. This Aston Martin Lagonda series 4 has had three owners from new, the current owner having bought it in 2002. The first owner, Ramon Gomez de la Serna from Spain, sold it to a Swiss collector who had a major service carried out in 2000 at 20,330 km. The car has just had another major service at 27,300 km when the steering rack was changed. This is one of the last of the 636 examples built.
