Hello,
Does anyone know of a way to actuate the oil pump without turning over the motor? It appears the pump is mechanical and gear driven off the crank. If there is not a way to do so, is there another way to pre-lube the motor before start up other than removing cam covers and the sump and applying oil by hand?

After an engine rebuild, or even an oil change, I would normally prime the pump by turning over the motor with the spark plugs / HT lead removed from the coil. I would keep turning it over until I saw oil pressure.

Thanks Jonathan.
That's the plan once I get some lube in the critical areas. My motor has been sitting for 15+ years so it's going to be rather dry. I'm hoping to get some oil flowing without rotating anything. I'll likely have to manually lube the top and bottom end and then turn it over by hand via the crank pulley. Once the oil pump is up to speed I'll use the starter, minus spark.
