Collected the car today from Berkshire where my brother had it after he collected it from Goodwood on Monday.

It drove very well; having covered 28k miles it is still very tight. Since it is a one-owner car, it is unmolested which is what I wanted. It has its original radio, toolkit, owners manual and service booklet but also original leather finish, carpets and paintwork. All these things put together will make it valuable to me to get the finishes correct on 13277, but also to maintain them on this car. Even the heating does both hot and cold - bonus!

This car also handles better at speed than 13277. I put this down to the way the car sits - the back is level where 13277 currently sits low at the back. This puts the nose up in the air and I expect this is what makes it go light over 80mph. 13379 was very happy at 90 Smile

Mrs Clark likes her cars to be clean and smell nice. She says it has the aroma 'Old Man's Car'. I think it will scrub up well though..

There are many subtle differences to 13277 which is pre the interior facelift.
Here is what I have noticed so far (some of this is very obvious, but I am trying to be complete):


    Pepperpot alloy wheels, rather than steel/stainless wheeltrims.
    Revised badges - no 'Aston Martin'. Additional badges on fuel flaps and boot.
    Opening rear windows / revised seat trimming.
    Internal door openers chrome with integral lock/unlock.
    'gathered' leather on seat-back pockets.
    Different rubber on door steps - wider ribbing.
    Electric aerial is now a roof aerial.
    Seat and front window controls on center console, wood trim instead of leather, single front ashtray, chrome not leather covered. No door illumination of controls so slightly revised door-pull trim piece.
    Central lock/unlock with key, driver and passenger side.
    Revised binnacle legend, revised LED dash legend (and it seems to be the way round the earlier LHD one was - speed/revs on the right)
    Different square push-button for opening the boot - black now instead of chrome.
    Rear aircon vents have chrome detail.
    LH blukhead connectors have a metal cover inside which has the pres-stud for the carpet on it.
    3-pin electronic flasher unit instead of two-pin. Relocated to panel under steering column.
    Suppression capacitors now round type (2x on distributor vacuum solenoids, one additional on flasher circuit below steering column)
    Internal fuse box is 1.25 inch glass fuses (like under the bonnet instead of coloured ceramic ones. Black cover has numbered and descriptive legend.
    Brake and accelerator pedal rubbers different, with Lagonda badge moulded into them. Accelerator pedal different shape - bottom is half-round instead of flat. Foot rest is still the same, and still says 'Aston Martin'.
    The three fuse box covers under the bonnet have numbers 1-12 in white on the top.
    The two vacuum reservoirs are now spherical.
    Heater water valve is two-port instead of three.
    Scuttle seal at back of bonnet is fixed to the bonnet instead of scuttle.
    Single tail pipes each side.
    Revised front apron with grill areas different.
    Throat restrictor inside fuel fillers.


So.. which one do I like the most? I haven't decided yet.

I actually prefer the touch buttons for the seats and front windows of the earlier car - I think this is remains true to the original design. I also found that due to the aerodynamics, you can't keep the rear windows open at speed (as with most cars) and so to me they are pretty useless, particularly with rear aircon.

I do prefer the style of seat trimming of the later one though..

13277 is fitted with pepperpot wheels, but it wouldn't...
13379 gets the US bumpers front AND rear.

I personally prefer 13295 to 13034... Wink

Quite right about the wheels. I know they are wrong on 13277, but I do like them.. I have corrected this above.

I didn't notice the bumper difference either.

Took 13379 and the Virage LE to Cars In The Park at Harewood House today. Being the only Lagonda, it attracted plenty of attention.

I gave it a clean and polish over the last week, replaced the radiator cap and had the wheels sand blasted and powder coated. It held its own amongst a lot of other very nice cars.

Polishing 13379 made quite a difference to the colour. Compare this with the pictures at the top. Over last week I used a clay bar followed by a machine polish with three different grades as the car looked like it had been cleaned with a Brillo pad:



Over the winter I think I will be removing the seats to clean them properly as Helen is still not happy with the smell..
