Hi everybody,
is there anybody, who is experienced with corrosion of S4 models as shown below? Is it a common problem? What has AM done (or tried) to prevent corrosion?
Furthermore: Does anybody know how to get owner handbooks for S4 models?
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
This is unfortunately the really weak point of the Lagonda structure, common to all S11, 111 an 1V cars.
If you look under restorations at 13150, 13380, 13501 and some of the others, you will see how the problem develops.
The trouble is that the part you see is of steel construction and double skinned and then the aluminium rear wing and 'D' post are over laid onto this, secured with rivets. it is not really the join between aluminium and steel that corrodes, it is more the two skins of steel that form the door shut face and then it leads down into the inner sill and suspension locating points...................
Repair is complex but at least with a S1V you see some of what there is, on the 11's and 111's there is an aluminium over cover that is always perfect and only when this is removed is the real condition of this area revealed.
Sorry to give such bad news
