Here is the procedure for an LED model (from memory):

1. Remove panel from under dash - the one with the display floodlight dimmer on it. It is secured by screws along the bottom edge.

2. Remove metal retaining trim from in front of the clear acrylic panel. It is secured by three screws along the top and then can be eased towards you. Remove acrylic once this is removed.

3. remove the floodlight 'finisher' panel above the dash. Screws are along the front and back edge of this. Front ones were not obvious to me. Get a torch to help locate.

4. Unscrew / remove finishing strip along top of binnacles. This is fixed by two nuts which are accessed from underneath.

5. Remove the two screws/washers which hold the top of each binnacle in place. You don't need to remove the binnacles, but these screws get in the way of the dash panel when you come to remove it.

6. Unscrew dash panel - screws 2x top and 2x bottom. Dash panel should then be loose so that it can be hinged down from the top to reveal all its glorious (and delicate) 70s electronic workings. To remove it you will need to disconnect 3x automotive connectors and one IDC ribbon connector, plus an earth wire which goes to the top of the circuit board.

To remove steering wheel:

1. Put steering in a straight forward position, not in a position locked by the ignition lock.

2. Undo the four screws underneath the wheel to separate the finishing cover. The two cover parts can be removed.

3. Undo 2x allen bolts to remove clamp

4. Sit in drivers seat and yank steering wheel towards you, side to side until it is released from the column splined end.

5. You can now unscrew/remove the column finishing trim if you need to (eg. to get at the stalks)

Refitting, as they say, is the reverse of removal.

have fun!

Jonathan
