Since my unfortunate shunt last Friday with Alvira I will be in need of a new front bumper.

I was told that they are no longer available as an OEM part. I was also told that someone had found a firm to recreate them.

Anybody has more information about this parts re-creator?

Francis

Francis
Have you asked Tim Cottingham whose bumper(s)? were damaged en route to the US?

Bumper update

My bumpers are being repaired - not remanufactured

Don't know how it'll turn out so I'll keep my fingers crossed

Could you specify how they fixed the bumpers?
Since the bumpers are made out of rubber this seems
to be not easy. It would be great if anyone could give advice how
to repair them.

Since my unfortunate accident at the Lagonda fest 2010 I purchased a used front bumper that needed a lot of tlc. Some of the rubber was torn out and it had qute a bit of wear and tear.

So I went on the internet and found that this material is the same as the one found on MGB's of the late seventies made for the american market.

I don't recall off hand what site I visited but it's fair to say that if you punch MGB bumper repair you will find good advice. I spent for some glue, some rubber filler to patch the holes and the seams for the rubber part that was missing and some special rubber bumper paint. I applied 3 coats of that and all total, about $90.-

I just took some pictures of the work I did, it's still in my storage, until my next trip to Europe. I will then bring it to Vincent who's fixing the dammage and doing a full overall paint on the car.

Notice on the first picture the dust specs in the rubber coating paint. That's what happens when you paint in your own garage. On the picture of the central part, you will see the mark left by the joint of the rubber. I tried very hard to sand this down, re did it 5 times but it still shows a bit. Thankfully it's under the license plate.

Hi Francis,

I will try to do it your way.
Unfortunately the paint etc. is only available in North America.
I will try to get it shipped to Germany.
Let's see if it works,

Martin
