Lagonda V8 meeting for 2008 has a face, a date and a place.
Date: 29.-31. August 2008
Place: Lindau im Bodensee / GERMANY.
We have a reservation of 30 rooms in hotel "Bayerischer Hof" in Lindau, the first hotel on the Lindau island (*****). There are suites with sea view and balcony (price 300 EUR approx), double rooms with sea view and balcony (price 250 EUR approx) and double rooms with or without balcony, with side views on the lake/haven (price 200 EUR approx.). I have reserved all the 6 suites for 2 additional nights before the meeting, for those who want to enjoy the beautiful location for some more days. Prices include breakfast for 2 persons.
The hotel has 90(!) parking places, which is an exceptional feature when looking on the tight situation on Lindau island. Places for 20-25 cars will be reserved for us (the most easily accessible for Lagondas).
Programme (very first draft):
Regions: Lake of constance, mountain views on the Alps, Allgäu region (The most southern part of Germany), Bregenzerwald (The most Western part of Austria),
Cities/towns to be visited: Lindau i.B., Bregenz, Dornbirn (Rolls-Royce Museum), Schwarzenberg, Wangen i.A. ... (to be continued).
Display of the cars on the promenade in Lindau haven will be possible (I am confident that the agreement of the authorities can be obtained).
We have an experienced mechanic accompanying and assisting us if any problems with the cars should occur. We have AM services in Munich (200 km) and Stuttgart (200 km) and a quick transfer by trailer available if needed.

During the next weeks and months the organizing team
- Michael von Aretin
- Falk Schneider
- Sieghard Schneider
will continue to work out a more detailled programme and provide more information in the forum.
Kind regards from Southern Germany,
Sieghard.

This is very soon to happen!
So what are your travel plans?
For me it is not a long distance!
I would like to arrive at friday evening to be able to warm up at the bar with Roger, Ossi and others ( remember Le Vieux Manoir ? ), but due to the wedding of a friend might arrive on saturday morning.
No plans for sunday when and how to drive back so I am open to propositions ( do not get me wrong )

I plan to leave the UK on Thursday am. Tunnel. Stay at Monthairons on the Thursday night. Arrive Lindau by Friday evening. Leave Lindau on the Sunday. Nicole has to go to Zurich airport to fly back to UK on the Sunday pm. I propose to stay at Monthairons on the Sunday night & return to UK on Monday via the tunnel.

The organisers have created this website.
A tour of the region is planned for the Saturday (30th August).
I suggest those interested in participating should register/renew their interest ASAP through the website or direct to the organisers or sieghard.schneider@web.de

Sieghard says
*Please note that our newest improvisation of the planning is that the participants coming from Northern (England, Belgium, Netherlands) and Eastern (Munich) directions should try to meet at Aston Martin Allgaeu dealership in Memmingen (located right at the crossing of the Motorways A7 and A96 which they are passing on their way. This dealership has been opened only recently, and invites us for some refreshment, and taking photographs.
Location and details: See www.astonmartin-allgaeu.com
Address: Teramostrasse 40, D-87700 Memmingen
Meeting time: Friday August 29, between 14:00 and 16:00 (flexible because you have a long trip). At 16:00 we plan to leave together with our cars for Lindau (some 45...60 min). Possibly we should go a part of the way beside the Motorway because there are heavy road works going on in one section of Motorway A96, typically accompanied by traffic jam for 6-8 kilometers on week-ends. I will offer to guide the group to Lindau on smaller but nice roads.
*
Memmingen it is then!
