Thought is already being given to the annual Wedge meeting which in 2012 will be held in England. So buy, get restoring, or start buffing your Lagonda now. More later

The date for this event has not yet been fixed by the organisers. It may seem a long way off but as far as one can in the circumstances could you indicate your preference(s) for the month and/or weekend?

Dear All,

After listening to the concerns of various people who thought the 2012 Olympics might impact on the proposed Lagonda meeting in England next year I approached Guy Dudding who had offered to host and organise it, and we agreed to avoid any conflict that it would be sensible to postpone the UK meeting to 2013. I hope everyone will find this decision acceptable.

This now leaves us without a location or host/organiser for 2012. May I ask for your thoughts, suggestions and preferences on this?

I shall be happy to go anywhere in Europe.

Kind regards,

Roger

Thank You Roger,

I could very well organize Canada in 2012 if this is to the liking of participants. I know it will be very expensive but it could be a one or two week affaire with a pause inbetween the two weeks if participants agree to something like that.

I know the preference would be something in Europe but this is all I can propose.

It was discissed in Dinard to do a week out west, British Columbia and Alberta a pause, get the cars shipped to Toronto and do a Niagara Falls to Québec City second week.

I am openned to every thing if this is feasable for you all.

Francis

The Canada trip,

Early estimates would run:

For one week in Québec and Ontario, transport of cars, air transport from London, Paris, Amsterdam or Bruxelles, Hotels, Food, Alcohol, and Activities, aound $10 000.- per couples. or 6 300 pound or 7 200 euros.
Adding a second week would only add $ 6 000.- , 3 750.- pounds or 4 250.- Euros for 7 extra nights and a flight from Toronto to Calgary.

Pleasant, but no so cheap...Maybe I could find a solution for the containers for cars as a friend of mine proposed me today 1500 € /car from everywhere/anywhere in North America to Antwerp ( the same guy who goes to St Malo to catch my car tomorrow ). Cool

price quotes for transport is for round trip. shipping to Canada and return to Europe. Shipping from Europe to North America is double the cost the other way around...

After speaking to my shipping guy in Le Havre last week when I dropped Alvira, he mentionned that they can fit 4 cars in a 40 feet container. Two on top on a wood platform they build inside the container. $3600 + about $400 for the wood structure. Plus $1000 at the drop site. So from Europe, count $1250 per car. The return cost is $2000 plus wood $400 plus the drop in Europe, 1 000 Euros or $1 500. so this leg is $3900 or $1 000 per car. Total transport is $2250 per car.

I round out to $2250 with maritime insurance.
Flights from Europe to Montreal is about $1 000 per passanger economy. ($2000 for 2)
Hotels are $300 per night X 7 is $2100 per couple
Food is $150 per person per day, so: $1750
Alcohol is: $350 per person per week, so $700.-
Special events and gala night $300 per person, so $600.-
Security and trail mechanic, $500 per car.

Total:
$2250 + $2000 + $2100 + 1750 + 700 + 600 + 500 = $9900 per couple or 6 200 Pound or 7 100 Euros.

Of coarse, Business class will be a bit more and super deluxe rooms will also be at a premium.

an eventual second week would add:

Flight in Canada, $300 per person, so $600 per couple.
Hotels are $300 per night X 7 is $2100 per couple
Food is $150 per person per day, so: $1750
Alcohol is: $350 per person per week, so $700.-
Special events and gala night $300 per person, so $600.-
Security and trail mechanic, $500 per car.

$600 + $2100 + $1750 + $700 + $600 + $500 = $6250

So two weeks would come in at $16 150.- or 10 000 pounds or 11 500 euros per car with two persons.
