We have devised a new way to control the A/C in these cars, replacing the
vacuum control of the main blend flap which in turn ensures that when full
cold is selected the water heater valve shuts down as well.
I am not suggesting that your car needs anything doing - if it performs as
it did when it left here, you are one of the lucky ones!
As always with these things, the final price will be determined by the
overall condition of the current A/C control system but if the vacuum pipes
are generally OK and the control system works if it can be made to go from hot to cold and vice versa. We see the price at about £950.00 plus VAT to supply and fit to a digital dash car, maybe a bit more for a CRT car as the area behind the screens is more complicated.
Removal of the dash and much of the fascia is required, we see it at around 11 - 12 hours work plus parts to install the system.
We replace the current vacuum drive (dependent upon the unreliable
temperature sensors and electrical "balancing" circuits) with a micro
processor controlled system, taking as it's input the signal from a new
temperature selector fitted to the binnacle but made to look and feel
exactly the same as the original.
