Hi everybody,

having read that the Lagonda alternator originally is a Chrysler part, I am wondering where to get one since I would need a new alternator.
Does anybody know?

No, not Chrysler, although the starter is.

The alternator and separate control unit are CAV. The original owners handbook lists AC5-B12-39 as the alternator and 440 D/12 as the regulator.

However, this was for the original 75A unit which was replaced with a 100A one from chassis 13180. The later owner's manual mentions the change, but not the part numbers. If it is a brush/bearing problem, there are plenty of service parts available for the AC5 units, which I expect the 100A one is also.

If you get it off, the part number would be useful Very Happy

Hmm.. from the picture in the parts manual, the 100A unit looks quite different, so is unlikely to be an AC5.

The 100A unit still has a separate control unit, but it is different to the 75A one. Also, pre-chassis 13180 cars with rear aircon had a 100A alternator.

I can't find out any more info than that, except that it changed again at 13464 when fuel injection was introduced.

I have one, from 13169, full revised/rebuild. Let me check about the price but I need the old one back.

Embarassed When my alternatos gave up I replaced them with new aftermarket ones (probably land Rovers,) this was about 1/4 th of the price of rebuilding the orgs. and also for future easier replacable.

Thanks. I bought a new alternator from Puddleduck and it works perfectly.
Aston Martin had no alternators in stock, but would have repaired the old one. the repair would though have been more expensive than the new one. Smile By the way there are about 4 (?) different alternators that can be found in Lagondas...
