For Information
In the next French monthly magazine "AUTOMOBILES CLASSIQUES "
N° 193 dated March 2010, 6 to 8 pages on my car with several indoor studio photos.
Also an article on the new Rapide 4 doors.
This car, 1 of 4 LWB built was my 4th Lagonda and is with me since 1995.
For those who was here, you have seen this car in June 1998 at A.M.O.C. event in Silverstone for the 20th anniversary Lagonda display.

Félicitations, Jean-Pierre !
Très bel article que je viens de découvrir !
Amusing detail : while on the main page you understand the new RAPIDE has no competitor, several pages further you find a trial of the new PANAMERA 4S, which costs almost 40000 € less ! _________________ Welcome to Paradise ! (FRONT 242)

The end of a kind ( S2 A/mkI ) or the beginning of a new one (S2 B/MkII) ?
The last one with steel wheels and alloy knob for A/C, but...
the first one with knobs on console, revised seats, rear power windows, new front under valence.
What's mentionned on the plate about the date out of factory ? Maybe 1984 because of the Tickford conversion...while this car was 'first' built in sept/oct 1983 ( almost supposed so ).
Jean Pierre, can you tell me ? _________________ Welcome to Paradise ! (FRONT 242)

The documents available from the factory (thank you Roger) show that this car have been finished in July 1983 at the name of Aston Martin agent in Kuwait with standard equipment (with blue paint, magnolia trimming, beige carpets)
and have been delivered in February 1985 to Kuwait to this agent (cannock black paint, grey hide piped red and red carpets, as it is still today)
That say that Tickford have keep the car 18 months for transformation! |

I have receive a private question about the price at the period of sale:
The answer is as follow
In October 1983 the catalog retail prices (including Tax and VAT) was:
Normal Lagonda: £ 66.000
Tickford Lagonda: £ 85.000
Tickford LWB Limousine: £ 110.000
For this LWB , this amount was a lot of money for a car in 1983 and explain why only 4 copies have been sold. |
