I just went on a mad dash run from Montreal to Florida to pick up 13422 to use it as a donner car to fix Alvira.

I travelled 5000kms in 4 days (two to go down and 2 to come back up) using my Dodge Magnum as a tow car to 13422.

The trip was uneventfull (except for the extreme fatigue I now feel) and the car was delivered last night to the AML dealer in Montreal for use as a parts car for my 13207.

It was a sad feeling to see this car rotting away in the Florida humidity...

Bill Morrow use to own it, but no more.

After I get done with pillliging 13422 for transplant to 13207, I will get the car disassemble and parts will be available for other needy Lagandas.

I still am waiting for the final ok from the insurance company (it should come by this Friday....) and work will probably start in the next few days after that.

I took some leather parts out of 13422 and they look really bad because of the Florida wheater but the leather is still firm.

Zoran, you did some work on your leather. Can you tell me the name of the kit you used to fix scratches and redye the fadded away spots? I would like to use the front and back seats of 13422 to create a nice seating area in my cinema room.

You know, reclinable seating in front of the big screen.

As for my european project, it is still on for 2009. I will be at Lagonda fest 2009 where ever it is with Alvira.

By the way, I now have nice projects with the parts I now have. Maybe you (all of you reading this) can counsel me on some of them:

I want to transfer the roll down windows of the rear door from 13422 to Alvira (13207) Alvira comes from that first genetation of cars that did not have the rolldown rear windows....I now have them, all I need to do is install them. Maybe I would just switch the rear doors all in one piece.

Do you think that this will be considered a modification that alters the originality of Alvira?

One more thing, on the inside, I would keep the Alvira door panels for color match. 13422 has a red interion, Alvira is cream color. In case that I choose to swap doors instead of just taking the window mechanism.

Alvira has the leather covered door handles on the inside and 13422 has the larger chromed door handles. They seem to work better (the chromed ones) and also look better. Using 13422's door handles would require that I cut (or ask a real wood worker to do it) the door panel's wood to fit this larger door handle unit.

Any opinions on this project and it's effect on originality?

The suggested modifications of course affect originality but one might say-so what? It is your car, they are improvements, & it is what you want. As long as the job is done well and I am sure in your case it will be then 99% of people will probably not notice unless you tell them.

Like Roger, I consider rolling down windows as an improvement.
Don't change the doors, the frame with the windows is easy to unfit, but you have to add electrical wirings and commands ( from 13422 ).
I'll let you posted on your email next week how we did it when respray my car...

Since the left rear door is damaged from the accident, the AML body shop here in Montreal suggested replacing the whole door instead of just the window framing. They will have to do some adjusting anyways so to them this is the better way.

My opinion is that, I noticed the door panel on the parts car are strait. mine are wrinckled (froissé) and does not reflect light or images strait. These new door will give a cleaner, straiter look to the car.

i would be totally surprised if you can bring it back..
that car was in the weather for years before i got it with windows that were open..

sorry about the florida humidity but that car survived, covered, several hurricanes..
my thought was to keep the 12k miles car inside..
since i only had a 2 car garage, even my lexus had to go through those hurricanes outside..

if you had not taken the car, francis, i was prepared to go get it, this last week, which trip i made because the trailer was still there..

(i apologise for the overgrown place but thats florida for you)..

and it also seems that much has been stolen from the property..
from the interior and all the storm shutters..
and more, including the transmission from 13422..

for the rear doors i would suggest replacing them rather than trying to replace just the windows and so forth..
remember there is wiring in those doors and you will also need to have wiring installed inb the body for those windows..

my drive was only 500 miles each way and i'm just now getting back to normal..

i'm happy that you finally have 13422 and can proceed repairing elvira..

I am looking to use the seats to create a long bench with the back seat in between the two front seats (with electrical fonctionning) and make it into a theater room lounge sofa. I will fix the leather, it is not so baddly damaged, I have used some leather revivor solution and it is now very souple.

The stains will not go away and the surface craking can be fixed. So I intend to redie them black, build a frame for them (one frame to attach all seats), connect the electrical to a 12 volt power source and a switch box to have control over the position of the front seats.

It is a winter project that I intend to tackle in November.
