Hi to all,

having recently bought an AML I realized that the car smells. Confused
Unfortunately I am not sure where the smell comes from. It smells like a mixture of petrol, slightly like exhaust gases and Solvent (thinner). Especially when I accelerate the smell becomes very intensive.
Has anyone experienced the same problems.
Maybe the ventilation got a leak Smile

Kind regards, Martin

Hello Martin,

Welcome "onboard" and congratulations on your new car. Which series (2/3/4) ? VIN ? Smile

Unfortunately I don't know how to fix the smell in your car, but I do remember a previous discussion about something similar. But I haven't been able to find that discussion. Maybe some one else can remember it ?

Best regards, Soren

Kind regards, Martin

First check the manifolds and their gaskets : it's possible to reweld the manifolds if they're rupted. If the car is fitted with catalysts ( inside the front arches of wheels ), check the gaskets. If i's not sufficient, check the fuel filter in the right rear wheel arch, and replace it if the smell is awful or do it anyway because it's not expensive ( FRAM CH816PL ). Then, if the smell is always present, check the fuel tank ( in boot but rear seats are very near ).I did the 3 first operations with success on my car !
Gaskets are available at AML at affordable prices
Smile
