i just read about esther and i am sure you all have a name for your car

ozzie's is White Lightning, Bill 's car is Esther, mine is Lagje

it is nice to see howpeople relate to cars that have a name.

my corniche is called Lola and I used to write articles in the rrec lmagazine, now apparently the people at the dealer read them too cause when i called in to check if my car was ready, the person on thephone went into the garage with his mobileand i heard him call" who has worked on Lola?". Quite funny and I was much surprised.

so why not send in the name of your car. That way we know that 13171 is Lagje and 13... is Esther, .....
It makesit niicerto read too.

Even if I fell in love with THE Lagonda when I was young, a long time before falling in love with my wife, it's difficult for me to compare cars ( or other objects ) to humans. So, and God knows I LOVE cars, I mean a car is only made of metal, plastic, alloys, rubber...was it an ASTON or a DACIA. That's the reason why I simply name my car "13-2-95 - treize deux nonante cinq" or "L'Aston" or "La Lagonda"...

I have not heard 'nonante' used in a long time. What is wrong with quatre vingt dix, or am I showing my ignorance?

With regard to names I think I agree with you. 'The Lagonda' probably gets used most.

"Nonante" is the old term for "quatre-vingt-dix" (90), only used today in Belgium with "septante" (70= soixante-dix) and Switzerland where "octante" (80) is also currently used. Never say it to a french guy, but septante, octante and nonante are correct, while their system finishing by "dix" seem to be wrong for the pure linguists, like Maurice Grevisse - famous belgian gramarian of the french language - said.
One legend says the french use soixante-dix(70) in place of septante since they loose the war against Prussia in 1870, ...???

With great pain I write again about my Alvira wounded as she may be, I still call her by her name, Alvira even if at times I now refer to her as the Lagonda. That is because I fear she is slipping away from me and it is a way to protect myself from the unthinkable...

My other Aston Martin, a DB7 also has a name, she is called Debby Set as DB seven spoken in French. I also call her just Debby cus' she's so cute!!

My wife's Jaguar X Type wagon is called Cindy, short for Cinderella. And they are all members of the familly.

I know they sleep on concrete in the garage and sometimes outside in the rain but they have feelings too!

Sometimes when everybody sleeps in the house, I sneek in the garage and I sleep with one of them...but don't tell my wife!
