and for everyone else lest they forget the words:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fg7w49UnGA

A mouse lived in a windmill in old Amsterdam
A windmill with a mouse in and he wasn't grousin'
He sang every morning "How lucky I am
Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam".

(Chorus)
I saw a mouse -- where? There on the stair
Where on the stair? Right there
A little mouse with clogs on -- well, I declare
Going clip-clippety-clop on the stair - oh yeah

This mouse, he got lonesome, he took him a wife
A windmill with mice in, it's hardly surprisin'
She sang every morning "How lucky I am
Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam"

(Chorus)

First they had triplets and then they had quins
A windmill with quins in, triplets and twins in
They sang every morning "How lucky we are
Living in a windmill in Amsterdam"

(Chorus)

The daughters got married and so did the sons
The windmill had christenings when no one was listening
They all sang in chorus "How lucky we am
Living in a windmill in old Amsterdam"

(Chorus)

A mouse lived in a windmill, so snug and so nice
There's nobody there now but a whole load of mice

Very Happy

Just to recap.

LAGONDA V8 2010
20th to 23rd August 2010 in the Netherlands

Nicole and I left home in Bedfordshire at 4 am. Around 11 am we met our first Lagonda south of Amsterdam, that of our good friends the Dufetrelles from France. We drove on in convoy to our first stop Volendam where in spite of our satnav and route map we still managed to get lost in the tourist filled one way narrow streets by the port. Eventually about 12.30 pm we reached the lakeside Hotel Spaander. Shortly afterwards Rodger Dudding arrived with his fleet of five Lagondas! We wandered off to the adjacent port and enjoyed our first Dutch lunch and some cold beers. The car park was full of Lagondas when we got back. That evening we had a relaxed dinner in this traditional hotel with friends old and new. All guests were given metal Lagonda shaped letter racks which had been made by Harry Kielstra.

Saturday had a full touring programme. We saw some wonderful landscapes and interesting buildings. First we went to the Museum Molen, a working windmill. Lunch was alfresco at Twiskerslot, formerly the home of a Dutch composer. We stopped at the windswept monument on the Afsluitdijk before continuing to the Woudagemaal, a monumental steam pumping station built in 1920, which is still used, where we had a guided tour. Refreshments and snacks were provided at the Hotel Iselmar in Lemmer before we proceeded to our second stop the Hotel Golden Tulip Midden-Drenthe near Westerbork. Later horse drawn trams carried us to our Gala Dinner at the De Warrel restaurant in Westerbork. This was spent outside during which we were serenaded by the delicious Rita of Tres Chique. Even Nicole decided to sing but fortunately no video or audio record of this exists. A new Lagonda Lovers Anthem penned by Siem de Jong was sung by all. We had our traditional prize giving. The White Lightning Trophy (for restoration etc) was awarded to Michael von Aretin and the Black Lightning Trophy (for originality etc) went to Olivier Maingard. A new Organisers Trophy (for motivation) was given by our Dutch hosts to Sandra Dufetrelle. We had an excellent evening returning late to the hotel on foot.

Sunday morning we visited the nearby old village of Orvelte for some sightseeing before driving in convoy to Harry & Elena’s house in Oldberkoop. Here we had a party in the garden, with good food, good company and good music. Harry’s unfinished cabriolet wedge was on show. The Marks brothers David and Robert gave a technical talk. A lucky dozen took off in two balloons from the adjacent field to the cheers of those on the ground. We returned late by vintage coach to our final stop at the hotel Bilderberg Landgoed in Lauswolt.

The weather had been kind during the weekend but on the morning of our departure and when we collected our cars to go home the heavens opened. This time there were no wedge casualties only a Virage which had to be trailered back to Germany. We did 1,000 miles there and back. In all there were 22 Lagondas participating. Namely:

13007 Series 2 Harry Kielstra Netherlands
13024 Series 2 Jacco Maris Netherlands
13049 Series 2 Roger Ivett UK
13057 Series 2 Harry Kielstra Netherlands

13354 Series 2 Arthur G Sutsch Switzerland
13359 Series 2 Dimitri Labis, Belgium
13380 Series 2 David Marks UK
13417 Series 2 Zoran Mitrovic Switzerland
13515 Series 3 Olivier Maingard Luxembourg
13579 Series 4 Guy Dudding UK
13585 Series 4 Andrew Ancell UK
13602 Series 4 Olivier Deslandes UK
13642 Series 4 Alan Ruck UK
13645 Series 4 Rodger Dudding UK

Danny Briers Netherlands owner of 13223
Rodney Howell USA owner of 13365
Michael von Aretin Germany owner of 13542 & 13592

We had a truly memorable weekend thanks to our thoughtful and generous Dutch organisers Harry & Elena and Siem and Truida. Next year the meeting will be in France. Why not buy a wedge and join us!

Thank you Roger for the recapitulation! It was indeed sensational!

However the blacklightening trophy went to Olivier Maingard from Luxembourg!

Miss you all!

Hummm... This gets me thinking...

I am redoing the front end of Alvira as we speak. (because of that idiot that rammed Alvira in the back of a helpless driver on the highway on it's way to the Dutch LagondaFest extravaganza).

So since the front must be re worked, I will get the car stripped again (it's almost a yearly happening for her) change the door rubbers seals, get all dings and scratches fixed and the door sils are now showing rust, probably do to the weather in Europe... So that now must be attended to, the ventilation system must be overhauled, the engie heads have just been planned with an engine out job...

Will Alvira be able to qualify for the restoration trophy for 2011 will all that new work done on her?

Francis

I thought making a trailer with the rear facia and boot of the third one, but that's really too 'kitsch'... Shocked
