After 7 years of dicking about I have finally driven 13465!
Exhaust is noisy middle muffler rubs slightly on the tailshaft which is an easy fix but the cats rattle so thinking of gutting them or removing all together and adding a short muffler per factory manual.
Either way what impact will this have on tuning, the schematic in the FI test manual is the same for cars with or without cats so do the sensors in the cats actually send a signal anywhere? The wiring on mine looks like an afterthought with different colour wiring joined a couple of times before disappearing into the bulkhead.
I should add here that my car was sold in the US in 1986 and then sold to someone in Japan at some stage before being a private import to Australia so the cat could have been a requirement for Japan and installed then. It looks nothing like the cat set up in the parts manual.
cheers
Steve

My car runs without catalysts for a very long time (US spec) and without air pumps too. _________________ Welcome to Paradise ! (FRONT 242)

Hi Vincent,
what did you do with the lambda sensor leads, just tie them off somewhere?
I've removed the air pumps, mainly because one was seized and they serve no purpose now anyway,
cheers

yeah mines injected so I do have the sensors, the cats are still on at the moment so I'll disconnect the sensors and go for a drive and see what happens. |

leave the sensors connected.
They dont use the cats for calculating mixture, and so dont know if they are there or not |
