This year's UK Mini Meeting for us Brits was held at The Priest House Hotel in Castle Donington, Derbyshire. http://www.thepriesthouse.co.uk
10 of us arrived on Friday afternoon and had a relaxing evening catching up on all the gossip.
At Saturday morning's breakfast we were joined by Roger & Nicole and afterwards we all travelled to the Crich Tramway Museum where we were met by our smartly dressed tour conductor, Ken, who was "Absolutely Smashing". https://www.tramway.co.uk/whatson/aston-martin-lagondas-on-display/
Ken showed us around the whole site telling us the history of the many different types of trams that had come from all over the world. After our tour we had some lunch and then we got to have a ride on one of their vintage trams.
On Sunday we travelled to Tamworth Castle where we were met Richard, our personal guide, who was splendidly dressed in full period costume. http://www.tamworthcastle.co.uk/photo-gallery
Richard escorted us around regaling tales about the history and all the going on's at the castle. In the Dining room, whilst our Lagonda Ladies sat at the Lord's top table, a lowly servant, (our very own David Marks), had to perform the "Bow To The Salt" ceremony. Salt was a very precious commodity in olden days and "David" was entrusted with the valuable spice to ensure it was not stolen.
After our tour we then had a light snack of sandwiches & Cream Tea before it was time for us to say our goodbyes until we meet up again at the Holland 2019 Festival. |
