Thanks for posting!

The car collection of the late King Hussein of Jordan is now in a museum:

http://www.royalautomobilemuseum.jo

A green Lagonda (13384) is featured on the website with some history:

"The car was presented as a gift to King Hussein by HRH Prince Zaid Bin Shaker in 1984, on the occasion of His Majesty's birthday. King Hussein used it on private and official occasions in Jordan. The original electronic touch-button dashboard was changed to an improved new design."

It's not the Saddam car, but maybe the King Of Jordan had more than one Lagonda?

But it would be very interesting to know what happend to it!

- Was it passed on as a gift to the late King of Jordan, or was destroyed in one of the Iraq wars ?

This car (?) is said to have been destroyed in the first war in Iraq (1990/1991). I'm not sure but if it's really the case, I'll not cry !
The boss of the bodyshop (SGS- probably now on bankrupcy ) which made this work had at least drunk a little too much and smoked yards of carpets... Laughing
But that was the taste of the emirates sheiks and petrol kings in the 80's!
500000 DM for this work = 250000 € = 170000 £ = 390000 $ !!!! car not included !

I don't know which one it is or whether it still exists.
I don't know if SGS modified more than one.
There is one Lagonda with a build sheet indicating an order from Iraq.
We might find out the answers to these questions later.

Maybe there is confusion between Saddam Hussein ( Iraq ) and King Hussein ( Jordan ) who owned 13384 :

http://www.vassard.dk/lagonda/view.html?13384,02

- absolutely different of this car:

http://fr.images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Ffr.images.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dlagonda%2Bhussein%26fr%3Dyfp-t-501%26ei%3Dutf-8%26js%3D1%26x%3Dwrt&w=500&h=198&imgurl=static.flickr.com%2F2263%2F2522319872_85692241f1.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2F8248296%40N03%2F2522319872%2F&size=75.8kB&name=%20Aston%20Martin%20Lagonda%20(KING%20HUSSEIN)%20JORDAN&p=lagonda%20hussein&type=JPG&oid=8cbeca12452b6d42&fusr=alratag&tit=%20Aston%20Martin%20Lagonda%20(KING%20HUSSEIN)%20JORDAN&hurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/8248296@N03/&no=1&tt=4

King Hussein of Jordan:

http://www.royalautomobilemuseum.jo

From the website (where I also got the pictures):

"The car was presented as a gift to King Hussein by HRH Prince Zaid Bin Shaker in 1984, on the occasion of His Majesty's birthday. King Hussein used it on private and official occasions in Jordan. The original electronic touch-button dashboard was changed to an improved new design."

- 1984 matches the 13384 VIN perfectly.

Saddam Hussein:

http://www.vassard.dk/lagonda/unknown/053.html

- The text in that old german magazine article clearly states that the car is going to be delivered to Saddam Hussein in Iraq. It also looks like a much earlier car than 13384 owned by the King of Jordan.

The car may very well still reside in Jordan, but not displayed at their museum. Understandably most people would choose to display an unmodified Lagonda and not the Saddam-pimped one in a car collection today. 1980s excess bordering on the distasteful is yet to be appreciated enough to be shown to the masses, this is the reason for so many insanely modified Mercedes W126 and other crazy eighties cars are simply locked up and gathering dust in garages in Europe and the Middle East.

Btw some months ago I actually found a geniune, unmolested Mercedes-Benz 1000SEL complete with such oil-sheikh necessities as 24k gold stars, Recaro-seats, picnic-tables, titanium wheels and a 2 km range remote starting system. It is the only one I have ever seen come up for sale and I did the craziest thing of my life so far and bought it. It is now locked up in a garage gathering dust... Wink

Its a pity such fascinating cars are never displayed. This extreme Lagonda is a true symbol of its time and like my 1000SEL I am sure its time will come Smile

Hi,
Thank you. I found out years ago through an acquintance of Chris Hahn (founder of SGS who built the car for Saddam) that the car might be in Germany, but could not verify the info to update this thread. Glad to hear its doing well!
Best regards,
