Lagondafest 2015 ( 27.8. - 30.8. ) Newsletter 02 051014

Dear friends

You do not need to be afraid, I will not send you every week a newsletter, but it is a busy time as next august we will go to the alps, and soon those roads will be covered with snow, so I need to explore them now!

It was a bit of a sad excursion my daughter Karolina and I had, because our cat Oskar, a very best friend of Karolina, died the day before. But it was good to be thinking about the event for the whole day.

Well yes, as I mentioned, we are going to the Swiss alps! Many of you think about the beautiful nature or about skiing when they think about Swiss alps, but for Swiss there is more in the alps then that. It is a kind of a Swiss monument. It is the reason why Switzerland was not invaded during WW I and WW II. The alps are for the Swiss also like their retreat like their bunker. And indeed what most people do not know, the Swiss alps are full of Swiss army facilities, very well hidden and mostly very secret!

This saturday I was able to visit such a fascinating Swiss army facility, secret up to 1999. I believe that even if you are not interested in military ( neither am I ), the visit to such a place could be astounding! When I asked Karolina at the evening what she liked most of the day, she said: The bunker!

Well of course I went up a „Bergbahn“, too, up to 3000 meters.

And we did drive fantastic roads. As I said, we are going to the alps, but we need to stay safe and to accept that we are not travelling in Land Rovers, but in Lagondas! So I enjoyed a fascinating drive, but then the road turned out to be steep, very steep. And even my Lagonda’s brakes needed a break! Anyone here remembers Austria? So no, we are not going to take this drive, we will drive only roads very well suited for our cars!

Reservations will open in january 2015!

If somebody would like to get those newsletters - I will keep sending you - in another language ( francais, deutsch, srpski ) please Email me. If somebody would like to be removed from the list, please Email me too!

Lagondafest 2015 ( 27.8. - 30.8. ) Newsletter 03 - The REVELATION

Dear friends

Now it is official! We are going to Gstaad next year! Some may have
heard of this Swiss Alpine village, some might not!

What is Gstaad:

Discreet understated luxury: Come UP - Slow DOWN

Gstaad in the Saanenland region is well-known, in the same way as St
Tropez or The Hamptons. The mix of Alpine authenticity, serenity and
understated luxury makes it one of the best-known holiday destinations
in Switzerland. In spite of its great fame, the village has remained
down-to-earth.
It was its famous royal visitors and guests from the world of film,
art, sport and business who once made Gstaad so well-known. Louis
Armstrong and the Aga Kahn, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Sophia
Loren, Roger Moore and Grace Kelly. Today John Travolta, Roman
Polanski, Ursula Andress, Bernie Ecclestone ( actually I saw him once
walking the shopping mile with Naomi Campell ) or Roger Federer. They
don't come to be seen but rather to enjoy the serene and discreet
atmosphere in Gstaad. As Roger Moore always said: ""The locals are
more interested in my car than they are in me.“

Why Gstaad:

The beauty of the nature surrounding Gstaad is breathtaking. The
village of Gstaad offers a unique mix of possible activities. It is a
car friendly village but has a traffic-free shopping mile with its
boutiques and galleries.
Although being in the Alps, the roads to Gstaad are really easy to
drive and are very well suited to our cars. It’s unique geographical
location allows us to drive many different and safe roads!

I am sure you will enjoy our choice!

Excellent Yodelling but I think Nicole will be better.

Is there a Swiss Yodel song about a mouse?

Lagondafest 2015 ( 27.8. - 30.8. ) Newsletter 04 - Season’s Greetings

Dear friends

I wish you all a wonderful holiday time and a blessed New Year! May you all enjoy the best health and happiness. I wish many of your dreams come true! And of course: Happy motoring!

Our hotel in Gstaad:

It is my immense pleasure to announce you our hotel which will accommodate us for 3 nights in Gstaad:

Le Grand Bellevue ( http://www.bellevue-gstaad.ch )

For our 10 years jubilee it had to be something very special! This is a 5 star hotel offering us all the facilities we can wish from a hotel! Located in the center of Gstaad in a beautiful park surrounded by breathtaking mountains!
With its elegant and spacious rooms fine cuisine, wonderful SPA, spacious garage with car wash places, bars and a private club, private cinema, our hosts will make us feel at home! Come up - slow down - enjoy

Don’t worry! I kept in mind that we need to stay in some sensible relations. We all know that Switzerland is an expensive country and 5 star hotels are not very affordable. But I was able to negotiate very reasonable rates in reserving early!
We were also very lucky to find supporters of our event which help us enormously to keep the fee at a reasonable level! Please visit the websites of the friends of the Lagondafest:
