Can someone enlighten me as to the purpose of the vacuum reservoir located in the corner between the right wing and the bulkhead.

There are two pipes; one narrow bore on the top and a wider bore on the bottom.

On my car both the hoses have split and it is not apparent where they should lead to

Which car is this?

Front reservoir feeds the cruise bellows, rear one goes through the bulkhead to feed the aircon control on the opposite side of the car (RHD cars).

Big pipe is the vacuum 'in' from the back of the top of the engine, small one is out.

There is a diagram if the under-bonnet vacuum plumbing in the parts catalogue, Fuel - Section 2.4B (for carb cars)

I suggest when you replace you use silicone hose. Buy enough to do the entire aircon system as you will likely need it. Also check the vacuum control pipes for the distributor advance, and the eight short ones coming out of the inlet manifolds.

Have fun!

Jonathan

Can you give me the name of the engine builder of your car from the small plate on top of one side of the engine? Thanks.

Ok - EFI car so Section 2.4E.

Spherical vacuum tank is for the aircon, and there appears to be a separate tank to the front of the engine called the 'Vacuum Tank, Brakes'.

The diagram only shows one in and one out though.

Do you have a copy of the Parts Catalogue?
