This year the three old trophies were replaced by a single new one. The Lagonda of the Year plate. Keith was the worthy first winner.

The winning car was chosen by a simple vote of all participants at the meeting with only cars present being eligible to win. The criteria for choosing the winner were completely open and all participated.

Can we have some feedback or comments on this for future reference? Preferences, thoughts, criticism, improvements etc etc or shall we carry on with it as it is?

Hi there,

myself giving away at 2012 Austrian meeting tons of trophies and prices for everything but the girl, all having really big fun and every one was proud to get something whatever. Even some drivers desired to be honoured by a trophy after the meeting. So I am a fan of multi purpose trophies for as much as possible issues to give away. Lagonda of the year could be surely one of them. Best would be a trophy for every car. Shouldn‘t be from sterling silver or crystal but nice to look at. Best rust bucket oft the year?

Let’s have some fun!

Michael

Because there were apparently no trophies given in 2017, this year was also special.

But I like more trophies, too.

My personal preference is for less awards to be given because the presentation time at the gala dinners was getting too long and tedious.

Having a single trophy for which everyone can participate in voting for is a much nicer and more " group inclusive" way to award the prize rather than a decision being made by just a few people "in the know". The fact that everyone can vote for a car for whatever reason they choose, be it a sane or silly reason, is good. It is also a bit of fun that the vote is a secret one and only Roger knows the final result once he has counted all the slips.

My only concern is that will people vote for the same car each year for the same reason. It has been suggested that perhaps the winner should be exempt for the following year's award.

I don’t see any reason to change anything to the “Lagonda of the Year” trophy award as described.

I’m not in favour of multiple awards, even if it is always nice to receive one.

But unless you give a prize to everyone attending the rally, you will make people who have received nothing disappointed

* I should say 5 trophies :

1. LAGONDA of the Year

2. LAGONDA which made the longest trip to join.

3. Best restored LAGONDA

4. Best unrestored LAGONDA (original, « as » ‘pride of ownership’ class in AMOC Concours)

5. LEMON trophy ( no chance during event, bad restoration, mechanical trouble or so…)

I think it all really depends on the number of participants, I would say more people, more trophies.
At the end of the day, the final decision should also be left at the organiser's discretion.
