I'm still away but sad enough at times to check e-mails!
The CRT boards require a constant 12V input.
"12V" ignition will actually range from 8.5 to maybe 16 volts depending on the electrical state of the overall car when running.
So, you cannot just connect to the ignition.
12V in/12V out will actually mean for the average regulator that anything from maybe 5 volts to 22 volts in will still give exactly 12V out - assuming the regulator is working correctly.
If you are anywhere near 22V though, other things will have gone bang by then!
