The rear passenger side door won't open from the inside. How do you remove the door panel to access the mechanism? All I can see are two bolts near the puddle light.

Hi,

It is fairly simple but easier with long, flexible fingers!

First, use a small 90 degree pick to carefully ease out the central push fit panel within the door casing. - If you slip you stand a high chance of scratching the leather work.

Ease it out at the base and then pull away against the two clips in the top corners.

Now pull out the leather trim covering the recess in the internal door armrest pull area.

Remove the screw now exposed.

Then the tricky bit:

The door casing if fitted correctly is retained by four wing nuts accessed by feeling for them through the aperture gained after the central panel is removed.

The wing nuts are not in the extreme corners but are towards the outer corners of the panel.

If you are lucky, they will be wing nuts and fairly easily detectable by feel alone but people "lose" these in the doors and either don't replace them or worse, fit normal 10mm nuts and these can be tricky to identify.

Once the four wings nuts and washers are removed, the panel can be lifted off.

Hi David,
I got the door panel off and was successful in fixing the problem of not being able to open the door from the inside. Many thanks for your input. Clearly did not design the car for ease of maintenance and repair. Still think it's a brilliant car.
