Had a chance to take a look at 13232 in Lyon today, my report as follows.

Thanks to David Marks for an invaluable phone briefing on what to look out for before going in to view the car.

- Advertised description of "The car is in original condition, never restored" is false. Car had a respray and reupholster in 1988.

- Advertised mileage of circa 4k miles is false. Car had an odometer replacement at around 40k miles, also in 1988.

- Respray is cracking in various places, most prominently on bonnet lines. Am no expert in respray but the job looks cheap and doesn't do the car any favours.

- Boot lid is misaligned on the driver's side by approx 1cm, boot only opens to 45 degree angle. Boot trim is in bad condition and loose on all sides. Looks like rear-end collision damage, badly repaired.

- Car is not drivable. Engine was apparently started to bring the car to auction. Asked auctioneer if he could start the car, he said no, due to "fire alarms in building". Two other cars were subsequently started so either it was a language issue or the car was genuinely going to start billowing smoke Smile

- Seemingly solid rear door sills, no crunching or other evidence of rust, but difficult to ascertain positively given the conditions.

- Crunching under passenger door sill, likely rust beneath. Rust coloured residue on sill near hinge.

- Rust colouring on floor of headlight unit, behind lenses, both sides.

- Bubbling around glass/body junctions, including windscreen and side windows.

- Badges missing from both fuel caps.

- Strange hose running along the length of the car, passenger side, underbody. Didn't check driver's side. See pics.

- Headliner sagging fore and aft. Critically exposed around sunroof.

- Woodwork lacking varnish on all doors, interior door handles in poor shape.

- Center console lid detached; however correctly upholstered replacement (still in plastic bag) was present.

- Fire extinguisher missing (perhaps another reason the auctioneer wouldn't start the car? Wink )

Was unable to test all the electronics as the driver's door was not openable due to positioning of car. Sat in passenger seat and tested what I could.

- LEDs appear to be working, but limited knowledge of AML and bad viewing position (unable to sit in driver's seat) means I didn't check them all.

- Touch pads are loose but appear to be working, at least on certain switches (mph/kph, for example). Again, only my second AML viewing, so not fully able to report on this.

- Oil pressure light is blinking

- Car thought it was going 3kph but was most certainly stationary.

- Mirrors croaked badly but moved when pressed; front windows worked; pax seat moved on track / recline; wiper croaked when activated (battery seemed low).

- Forgot to check the headlight popups.

The good news is that the leather work is in a mostly acceptable condition and the tool kit appears to be present (but I didn't check the contents).

Was last sold at auction in 1995 for 195,000 FRF (€29,728). Was never registered in France and appears to come with a UK V5, reg ARR 594Y.

Pics to follow.

This is normal for 13232, in fact it should not have the bootlid badge if you want it in original condition

Estimation is low, this is almost the price for a wreck so...

Fuel flap badges added from 13284. Hose below the sill is the petrol pipe.

This car has side lights on the wings so a boot badge may be original. I think the badging/branding on some export regions was different.

Car has holes in centre of both fuel flaps so looks like badges were there at some point. No boot badge if I recall correctly.

Sold for 32000 euro + 20% premium = 38400 euro all-in for a car that has not been on the road since 1995.

yeah - daft. that price makes no sense to me when there are perfectly drivable cars on the market for around €10k more.
