Roger,

- I believe Francis got a qoute of 20.000 USD for the few panels required to repair his car.....

So YES, 19.300 USD for a complete car in good condition is cheap Smile

I was bidding on the car, I was looking very closely at the auction process... I was the one on the front line from $12500 to $16500 until the last 10 seconds when the bid went up to $17200. I replied with $17500 but got out bidded even before my new bid was in... and 5 seconds later the auction was over at $19300.00. I think that this car was a perfect car to become Alvira 2. I would have transfered my interior and all other parts to make one better car. Since the insurance compamy still has not paid me, this was a gamble to take and my limit was at $17500.00.

To that I would have had to add transport, $1500.00, tax and import duty, 20% and all work to switch parts from Alvira.

On top of all that, this car has 65 000 miles or 100 000 kms, Alvira has only 17 000 kms so a significant difference.

I must say I'm not "rimrimauto" but I'm happy to see more and more belgian people are interested in owning a Lagonda. Cool
A fine car in this case !
About 13000 EUR + transport + 21% VAT is really a good deal !

Francis:

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the winning bid. When are you getting the parts car you bought from Bill?

Vincent:

Yes, I think it could be very good deal. I know photoes doesn't always tell the true story, but it looks like a good original car.

Roger you are right, no cheap Lagonda!

Has somebody tried to contact the buyer?
I hope it is not a dealer but a true enthusiast we will meet at LagondaV82009!

I will get Bill Morrow's part car the minute I get an answer from the insurance company. The tricky thing here is should I take Alvira to Florida to get her fixed where the parts car is or should I bring the parts car up here in Canada...I need to find a good body shop that can work with aluminium and that is hard to find. So far I only heard of one in Montreal and I have not heard of any in Florida. I am sure that there are some very good shops in Florida but I don't know them. Does anybody know of a good body shop in Florida?

I would get the parts car to Canada, so you can watch at the progress of work.
If you considered the Ebay car. May be you consider Bill's other car.

Is it the insurance of the mechanic who will pay you?

Regards

My reasons to get the work done in Florida is that I am also looking to buy a property in the Ft Lauderdale region of South Florida. I am debating bringing Alvira there and keeping her there. If not of coarse the only choice is doing the work here and briging the parts car here. I will need to decide this by Juli 1st...

Rodney Howell has his Lagonda in Miami. He is very happy with his mechanic. But he never mentioned a body shop.

I think an AUDI dealer could help you. AUDI cars are made of aluminium since several years and the AUDI bodyshops have some know-how in this matter- at least here in Belgium!.

The insurance company came back with their quote on the repair to Alvira. As expected, they are totaly unserious.

My estimate of parts needed to fix the car came to $21000.- with new parts and about half for parts from Puddleduck. To that you need to add labor, paint, plus taxes (13%) so the came in at a total of under $12000.-

I brought the car to the dealer yesterday for them to do an estimate of work needed. Now the negociation is with them...

Of coarse the parts car from Bill Morrow is now essential to make sure that this job gets done properly and in budgets...
