I have used Reel Steel for parts before, who specialise in US engine/gearbox spares. Maybe ask them?

A trawl of the AMOC forum turned up these guys:

There is also discussion of fitting the later 4 speed auto. Over the past month I have driven both 13379 and my Virage (which has the 4-speed). Never having driven back-to-back before, I really noticed how 'slushy' the 3 speed is and that is making me consider a 4-speed upgrade when the time comes on 13277.
What is your chassis number Robert? From 59 onwards a lock-up torque convertor was fitted which would be an improvement over the earlier arrangement. The input shaft on the gearbox is different so this is important for exchange in any case.
One other point - AML put their own numbers on the gearbox, so assuming it is still the original one, a rebuild of your existing box would retain this.

Graham is very good.
We have used him for our Jaguar boxes when required and he also does a very comprehensive and well thought out four speed conversion using a ZF 4HP22 box - these are unbreakable. |
