The Lagonda rusts mostly because of the total absence of hollow body protection.
13169 ( my burned spare Lag) had the chance to have a healthy chassis within I had to cut last week to get body parcels to restore 13034.
They didn't know the existence of Waxoyl or Dinitrol at Newport Pagnell ! Evil or Very Mad

I think the inner sill box section is protected. Certainly it has injection holes along the top - like the plug you can see for the triangular section in your first photo, all along the top edge to the front. The big issue is the outer sill which has no protection. On 13277, when Four Ashes repaired the steelwork many years ago, they put holes in the front triangular plate and injected from there. (Then fitted plugs of course!)

The real problem is the use of bitumen-based underseal. This is sprayed over the bare metal primer and without any seam sealant. For the seams, they just sprayed a bit thicker. They used it on the seams inside too.

There are also lots of areas where water can sit without any sort of drainage; it obviously wasn't a design consideration.
