Answer from David

Yes, you can do away with the screws if you wish.
In theory you would use the take offs to measure each cylinder combustion but in practice, I doubt if any of them would undo after even a year or so. I think only those people setting up an engine for racing or being very particular for some reason would try to do things that way - we use vacuum gauges and gas analysers to set the carbs.
We had some made up in stainless so should not corrode.
There are different manifolds for different applications so if ordering from
AM, ensure the correct VIN is noted.

We cutted the pipes and screws off when we rewelded the manifolds of 13295; my principle is
what is not necessary goes away so it cannot cause troubles anymore
