Is the waterpump on the Lagonda V8 an Aston Martin in house product, or is it manufactured by a sub supplier.
Has anybody reconditioned such a pump and know if the bearings and sealings are to any standard?

Thank you for the information on the Lagonda waterpump. I have studied the drawings and the only thing that seems to be special is nr 41 water seal-this water seal also seems to come in two versions where one is a ceramic one. Is this part awailable from somewhere, as Aston Martin only seems to sel complete units which one should believe were cast in gold.
Have noted the problems with the pulleys as it seems the bore is a little large so that the pulley can slip on the axle

You can order at AML the#41 ref 080.005.0112 at the cost of 64,31€ + VAT; the ceramic version ( S4) is not available anymore. But they prefer to sell the whole waterpump...

My water pump seams to have died last week. where can I get a replacement part? Can I use an electrical water pump or an after market part like:

what exactly is the meaning of died?
is the pump leaking water? If so there are som seals that can be changed,ref the drawings of the pump.Normally this would also indicate that water have entered the bearings and those should therefore be carefully inspected or renewed.The bearings are standard sizes and can be bought or ordered in a shop specialising in bearings.
Is the pump making a rattling noise,or other noises?
This is normally due to worn out bearings, or that water have entered the bearings due to faulty sealings, or that the drive belts running over the pulley have been tightened too much.
On the Lagonda it seems to be some reports that the pulley is slipping on the pump axle.As on a waterpump the pulley attachment and the pumpimpeller normally is a press fitting this can be due to wrong toleranses during manufacturing of the pumpaxle,-but I do believe that the guarantee period for this expired some time ago!
However, I can still remember the cold and dark night that a similar press fitting loosened on my Sunbeam Alpine and the fan went through the radiator, resulting in a most unwelkome stop.
If the pump is not pumping, but the axle rotate with out undue resistanse it can be a split pumpimpeller, but this would normally create noise while running, or it can be that the impeller slips on the axle .
The easiest sollution is of course to invest your savings in a new pump from aston martin, if awailable,but the cheapest solution is to recondition the pump, either yourself or at some local company doing pump repairs as there are no hightec design parts in those pumps.
However, looking at, the pump itself it is in the back of my mind that I have seen a similar pump unit, but I can at the moment not remember in which connection. That goes for the pump unit and not the aluminiumscasting to which it is screwed.
