Thank you David i suspected that might be the case.
It looks like i need to replace the four rubber mounting blocks for the gearbox and engine, are they specific to AM? RogerS

Yes Steve it was the single screw from the armrest that was holding them.
I now have the driver seat out by using a steeply angled ring spanner.
