| Message: I need to replace the seatbel retractor on a rear driver side on my LHD Series 2 car. I have all the upholestry out and now need to take out the rof liner to get to the retractor. Can anyone tell me how to get the rear quarter of the roof liner out? | |
| GLYN EGAN 2/03/2003 12:25:46 | RE: Seatbelt Retractor | Message: Hi Dave,To remove this you first need to remove the rear seat (only 1 side)held in by 4 nuts.You can then remove the large upholstered panel with the rear seatbelt coming out of the top, held in by 2 screws (1 into the floor),( the other in the door shut above the catch pin on the wheel arch).Finally there is a wing nut in the boot under the corner of the rear window !!!!.After lifting this panel away you should be able to unclip the panels of the rear qter.Forgot!after the rear seat you need to unscrew (2)the small square leather pad next to it.Hopethis helps, please ask if I can be of any more help. |

However, I still cannot see how to take the retractor unit out. It seems that there is a clip welded to the body on the top and bolt driven through the back of the retractor. I can't figure how to get to the bolt, I cannot seem to reach it from the boot. Am I supposed to be able to dismantle the retractor unit in place? |
